What is an "inbound order"?
An inbound order is the top-most document for inbound goods en route to the warehouse. It includes things like: factory PO #, item, total quantity expected. From this document, Ramp can create 1 or more receipts against an inbound order.
When would you use this template?
Use this template to create an inbound order in Ramp's WMS. An inbound order is anything coming TO Ramp, that our receiving team will RECEIVE into inventory. For example, if you ordered 100 units of SKU ABC from your factory on PO 123, you would send a file to Ramp's WMS that indicates Ramp's WMS should expect to receive 100 quantity of ABC from your Factory on PO 123.
Note: the "inbound order", or factory purchase order, includes the total quantity that Ramp's warehouses expect to receive. Using the example above, if you order 100 units of ABC, and the factory ships 60 units in August, and the balance of 40 units in September, those "children" receipts are called "RECEIPTS" or can be imported as supplemental "carton detail ASN's" into Ramp's WMS.
You should use THIS template to create the master, parent Inbound Order (this file will have the summary 100 units total quantity to receive, in other words.) For the carton-detail ASN (child receipt), click here.
